Decarbonizing industry: what role for hydrogen infrastructures?
H2MED to link Barcelona to Marseille, a massive hydrogen storage project announced for north-west Germany, a dedicated mission entrusted to the French Energy Regulatory Commission… Hydrogen infrastructures (pipelines and caverns in particular) are gradually taking their place in debates on the energy transition and the decarbonization of industry in particular. The first kilometers of pipelines are even under construction in the Netherlands. However, the pace of deployment remains slow, despite the fact that the routes currently used to transport fossil fuels, for example, could also be used to accelerate hydrogen development. How can this be explained, and above all, how can existing obstacles be removed so that hydrogen infrastructures can play their full role in decarbonizing industry? To answer these questions, this round table brings together representatives from the entire value chain.
